Amy Lee Unveils Enchanting “Speak To Me” Music Video

Last week, Amy Lee released her new single, “Speak To Me.” She wrote and recorded the song for the new film, Voice From The Stone, back in 2015. It was that October when she also filmed a music video for the song, and now we can finally see the stunning clip. Eric D. Howell, the film’s director, directed the music video.

Like the movie, the “Speak To Me” music video was filmed in Tuscany in Italy. It starts in black and white, reminding Evanescence fans of the “My Immortal” video. But here, everything turns to color as Amy plays with a young child. They look like a perfect mother-son pair, mirroring the themes of Voice From The Stone.

The old Italian setting lends the video an enchanting, mysterious quality. Amy’s outfits – a flowing turquoise dress and a jeweled medieval gown – are also magical. Visually, the “Speak To Me” video draws out the beauty of its ethereal song. Watch “Speak To Me” below:

If the music video is any indication, Voice From The Stone will be a moving and captivating film. It will be released in select theaters and on demand on April 28th. You can see the trailer now. The movie stars Game Of Throne‘s Emilia Clarke.

In addition to Voice From The Stone, Amy also has an upcoming song, “Through Your Eyes,” in the film Blind, starring Alec Baldwin and Demi Moore. She did the film scoring for Blind too, as she did for the 2014 movie War Story. That film score appeared on her own album, Aftermath.

Amy released her children’s album Dream Too Much last fall. She also shared an English-language cover of an Italian song, “Love Exists,” last month. Her band, Evanescence, just released a box set of all their albums on vinyl. It includes a new version of their Origin song, “Even In Death,” and a studio recording of “Lost Whispers.” It’s just our first taste of Evanescence in 2017.

Going forward, Amy’s focus will be Evanescence. The band is currently working on new music in the studio in between touring. Amy promises that the “different” new album will be out later this year. It will be the long-awaited followup to their self-titled third studio album, released in 2011.

Be sure to see Voice From The Stone once it comes out next month. You can buy two versions of “Speak To Me” on iTunes now, or stream it on Spotify. Keep checking back here for all the latest Amy Lee and Evanescence music news.

Amy Lee Talks “Different” New Evanescence Album, Solo Songs, & “Take Cover”

There has been plenty going on in the Amy Lee world – children’s albums, movie scores, soundtrack singles – but she’s also actively working on new Evanescence material. Amy spoke with BUILD Series about all the recent and upcoming projects. The Evanescence album remains a bit of a mystery for now, but Amy promises we’ll know more soon.

First, Amy talked about her brand new single, “Speak To Me,” which came out last Friday. She wrote and recorded the song for the new genre-defying film, Voice From The Stone. The film, starring Emilia Clarke, will be available on April 28th. “Speak To Me” is a beautiful piano-driven ballad, and Amy talked about recording it at Skywalker Ranch in 2015. She filmed a music video in October 2015, and we’ll finally get to see that this Friday.

Although Amy has been doing her own thing lately, she confirms that Evanescence is in the studio and have big plans for 2017. She won’t say much, but we do know that band is working on a very different new album. She said:

All the time in between [touring], including right now, we’re working on something. And I can’t – it’s not quite the right time to tell you exactly what it is. It’s a new album, but it’s not just a straightforward “next Evanescence album,” it’s something else. So just manage and prepare yourself for what you’re waiting for, it’s something different, and it involves more – mmm, I can’t give it away.

I had this crazy, hair-brained idea two years ago and I finally have all the people around me that are like, “let’s make that happen.” So I’m just doing something… you’re just going to go with it. You’re going to like it.

Amy wouldn’t get into the new sound, but confirmed the album will be out this year.

Toward the end of the interview, a fan asked about the future of Evanescence. Amy says she has a plan for Evanescence through the next three years, and plans to for the band to continue evolving. Another fan inquired about the recording process for the new album. Amy told him, “I can’t tell you about the process specifically for the next album, because it’s all about the process.” A small, mysterious hint.

Evanescence is going on tour in South America and Europe this spring, but then we should have more details about the upcoming album.

Speaking of touring, last fall Evanescence debuted a new song called “Take Cover.” In answer to a fan question toward the end of the interview, Amy revealed that’s actually an old song. Back in 2011, Evanescence released their self-titled third album. But before that record came to light, the band had been trying out a different sound. Some of those earlier songs were “Made Of Stone,” “Swimming Home,” and “Take Cover.” Amy says that “Take Cover” was one of the songs they’ve been waiting to share with their fans.

Check out the full interview below. Amy covers a lot of ground, and the whole video is worth watching. After talking about “Speak To Me” and Dream Too Much, she describes future Evanescence music at 11:06. The fan questions begin at 22:20, and she talks about “Take Cover” and more about Evanescence. Watch below:

In case you missed it, Amy Lee released her children’s album Dream Too Much last fall. She also shared an English-language cover of an Italian song, “Love Exists,” last month. Her newest solo single is “Speak To Me” from Voice From The Stone. She also has an upcoming song, “Through Your Eyes,” in the film Blind, starring Alec Baldwin and Demi Moore.

Evanescence just released a box set of all their albums on vinyl. It includes a new version of their Origin song, “Even In Death,” and a studio recording of “Lost Whispers.” It’s just our first taste of Evanescence in 2017. Later this year, the band will be releasing a new album. It will be the long-awaited followup to their self-titled third studio album, released in 2011. Amy Lee Releases Ethereal New Single, “Speak To Me”

Earlier this week, Amy Lee shared a snippet of her new movie single, “Speak To Me.” She wrote the song for the film, Voice From The Stone, back in 2015, and though she filmed a music video that October, it’s taken a while for the song and film to be released. With the movie scheduled for April 28th, fans finally get to hear “Speak To Me” in full.

“Speak To Me” is a dramatic, ethereal song that’s driven by piano, strings, and delicate vocals. The song shifts between moods, its dynamism propelling it forward as it entrances the listener. It’s a gorgeous song that shows Amy Lee at her best. If she were to release a proper solo album, this is the sound we’d expect and hope to hear. Hints of classic Evanescence blend with cinematic, fragile, and moody new atmospheres.

The new single comes in two different versions: The full, 5:19 version, and a 4:35 radio mix. You can hear the radio mix of “Speak To Me” in the video below:

For those of you who want to hear the longer version, listen below:

Amy wrote and recording “Speak To Me” specifically for the film, Voice From The Stone. The supernatural psychological thriller was directed by Eric D. Howell. It is based on the 1996 novel of the same name by Silvio Raffo. Andrew Shaw wrote the script, and the film stars Emilia Clark. Voice From The Stone is scheduled for release on April 28th. Be sure to watch the film once it’s available in your area!

In a press release, Amy talked about writing “Speak To Me.”

There are many reasons why I felt inspired to work on this project. Voice From The Stone tells the haunting story of Verena, a nurse who is asked to aid a young boy who has fallen silent after the sudden passing of his mother- Verena is brought in to help him speak again. As a new mother myself, the film resonated very deeply with me. I had the opportunity to work closely with Eric Howell, who directed the film, and Michael Wandmacher, who composed the score.

I was very moved by the movie, and after having my first conversation with Eric and Michael, I felt a surge of inspiration and immediately began writing. It is a rare phenomenon to really share a creative vision so completely, and that made for a very powerful experience, and an end result that I am very proud of.

It was an honour to be able to work with Eric on the music video as well, which was shot in Sienna, Italy, at the same beautiful location as the film. We conceived the video as a parallel and backstory to the film, which explores the strong bond of love between Malvina and her son, and the belief that love is stronger than death.

Amy Lee has been keeping busy the last few years, and “Speak To Me” is one of many film projects she’s tackled. In 2014, she released her first solo album, Aftermath. It was comprised of music she wrote for the indie film, War Story. Amy has done some more film scoring, and has a few songs in some upcoming movies. In addition to “Speak To Me” from Voice From The Stone, Amy also has a song for the forthcoming film Blind called “Through Your Eyes”. It stars Demi Moore and Alec Baldwin. You can see a trailer for the movie here; it should be out later this year.

Early last year, Amy released a 4-song EP of covers she recorded. In September, she also released a children’s album. Dream Too Much includes both original compositions and covers that Amy recorded it with her family for her young son, Jack. Last month, Amy also released a solo song called “Love Exists,” a reworking of “L’amore esiste” by the Italian singer Francesca Michielin. Incidentally, Amy discovered this song when she was working on “Speak To Me.”

In addition to her film scoring, covers, and children’s albums, Amy is also working on new Evanescence music again. While on tour last fall, the band debuted a new song called “Take Cover”. The band also just released a vinyl boxset of all their albums – including Origin. It comes with new recordings of “Even In Death” and their tour intro, “Lost Whispers”. Amy admits that Evanescence is working on new music, though it may not come in the form of an album. She’s secretive so far, but hopefully we’ll hear more in 2017.

There’s plenty going on for both Evanescence and Amy Lee solo. Keep checking back for all the latest music news. Enjoy both versions of “Speak To Me,” and be sure to see Voice From The Stone in April.

Hear Snippet Of Amy Lee’s ‘Voice From The Stone’ Song, “Speak To Me”

Back in 2015, Amy Lee recorded a new song called “Speak To Me” for a film, Voice From The Stone. The movie was shot in the regions of Tuscany and Lazio in Italy in late 2014. The following August, Amy Lee joined the crew to compose a song. She recorded it that month, and in October 2015, Amy filmed a music video for “Speak To Me” in Tuscany.

While we still don’t have the music video, or even the full song, we can hear a new snippet of “Speak To Me” from the new trailer for Voice From The Stone. It’s a lovely piano-driven ballad that’s as moody as the film looks. Listen for it in the new movie trailer below:

This is the second preview we’ve heard of the song. Last April, Amy shared a bit of the song’s recording process at Skywalker Ranch.

Amy Lee Releases “Love Exists,” Cover Of Italian Song

Amy Lee, the frontwoman of Evanescence, is known for her diversity in music, especially recently. Since releasing the self-titled third Evanescence record in 2011, Amy has taken on some exciting projects of her own. Early last year, she released a 4-song EP of covers she recorded. Today she’s back with another cover, this time of an Italian song by Francesca Michielin. Amy reworked “L’amore esiste” into “Love Exists.”

Amy’s version, like the original, is as powerful as it is beautiful. Piano, strings, and synths build the track into a dramatic backdrop for the passionate lyrics. Amy declares the importance and power of love, explaining that love can develop in a time and place you’d least expect it. Though love can be confusing and can cause pain as much as joy, it’s worth it. It’s a gorgeous song, and Amy is a perfect match for the track.

Listen to Amy’s cover of “Love Exists” below. You can get “Love Exists” on iTunes now. The EP comes with two remixes and an instrumental version.

This is what Amy had to say about choosing to cover “L’amore esiste” on Facebook:
