Garbage – Not Your Kind Of People
After a lengthy hiatus interrupted only by a greatest hits album in 2007, Garbage was finally ready to regroup and release a new album in 2012. Not Your Kind Of People came out on May 15, 2012 via the band’s own record label, reaching number 13 on the Billboard 200 in spite of the long absence. The album received positive reviews, with critics noting that it sounded more like Garbage’s first two albums from the ’90s and less like their more recent material. Their unique sound and edgy vibe were still as strong as ever, even as Shirley Manson sang lyrics that strayed further into optimism than usual. Not Your Kind Of People was led by the single “Blood For Poppies,” followed by “Big Bright World.” The UK got “Battle In Me” as its lead single, while “Automatic Systematic Habit” was a promo single ahead of the album’s release. Album highlight “Control” was also announced as a single. Not Your Kind Of People was a welcome return of alternative’s most beloved band, and Garbage promised the next album wouldn’t take as long.
Highlights on Not Your Kind Of People include “Control,” “I Hate Love,” “Man On A Wire,” and “Blood For Poppies.”
