Avril Lavigne is gearing up to release a new album in 2017, and it seems that she’s as excited as her fans are. At the end of 2016, Avril teased lyrics from a song possibly called “Warrior.” In January, she pushed the “Warrior” hint again along with a new title: “Crush” or “Crushed.” This month, Avril has continued to give fans lyric hints and small insights into the writing process for her new album.
At the beginning of February, Avril shared the line “You make me lose control,” evidently from the song called “Crush.” In the middle of the month, Avril hinted that “black & white” could be part of a new song. In these new Instagram pictures, Avril appears with two guitars (one electric and one acoustic) and a baby grand piano. Check out Avril’s musical hints below:
Avril has been steadily writing and demoing new music at least since 2015, and has shared social updates intermittently. She says the new music will reflect her personal and health changes. Based on the lyrics she’s shared so far, it sounds like her new songs will be empowering. Her 2015 charity single, “Fly,” may be a hint of the direction she plans to go. Musically, it seems that Avril may be going in a more raw, instrument-driven direction.
Only time will tell, but Avril’s sixth album is sure to be a stunning comeback! Hopefully a new single will be out soon enough.
A new album isn’t the only thing Avril’s been working on recently. She signed on to voice Snow White in an upcoming animated film called Charming. The movie will also come with a new song written by Fall Out Boy and sung by Avril. In January, fans got to hear her new song “Listen” with the Japanese band, One Ok Rock. It appears on their album, Ambitions, out on January 11th.
There’s plenty going on for Avril this year. Keep checking back here for all the latest Avril Lavigne music news.
