Banks Inspires Horror In Bold “Trainwreck” Music Video
Just four months ago, Banks released her second album, The Altar, the follow-up to her impressive debut, Goddess. The Altar continues Banks’ unique sound, pushing the boundaries while inviting the listener into her world. Singles “F–K With Myself” and “Gemini Feed” announced the record, and now The Altar gets its third single and music video with “Trainwreck.”
“Trainwreck” is one of the highlights on the album, a seething song about getting away from a controlling partner. The song is spooky and overt, and naturally, its music video plays up the theatrics. It may be Banks’ eeriest and best music video yet.
The video begins with shots of Banks dolled up on a TV screen. Meanwhile, she’s under the constant supervision of a trio of businessmen with sunken in eyes. Their faces may look warped and unsettling, but they’re running the show here, continually filming and controlling Banks’ every move. Banks spends some scenes with a dead crow headdress that suggests the gravity of her situation. Her screams divulge the true horror she faces with the creepy-eyed men.
The “Trainwreck” video is like a disturbing horror movie with an unclear ending. We’re left wondering whether she truly got away and lunging for the replay button so we can try to unravel the mystery. Check out the “Trainwreck” video below:
“Trainwreck” comes from Banks’ recent sophomore record, The Altar. You can buy the album on iTunes now. Banks has a nearly sold out European tour starting next month. She also just announced a brief tour of the west coast. Check out dates and tickets before it’s too late. Keep checking back here for all the latest Banks news.
