Avril Lavigne Recording New Music In The Studio
Avril Lavigne had a rough year thanks to a particularly bad case of Lyme Disease, but now the pop singer is healthy again and ready to rock. Avril released a charity single called “Fly” in April. The song is part of this year’s Special Olympics, and proceeds from the song benefit the Avril Lavigne Foundation and Special Olympics. Avril has also recorded a new song about her battle with Lyme Disease, and it is planned for release later this year.
Although she didn’t set a timeline for any of her upcoming music, Avril has recently started recording! She took to Twitter in late April to express her excitement:

Avril didn’t divulge in what exactly she recorded – her single about Lyme disease? A song for her Christmas record? Only time will tell.
On May 19th Avril took over the iHeartRadio Twitter to do a Q&A with fans. A fan asked her about the newly recorded song, and while Avril wasn’t able to give any details, she did divulge that fans would know more in the next couple of months!

Avril has another big music project coming up: A new album. And as of yesterday, it looks like Avril is official recording new songs. She posted two photos on Instagram of her studio work on June 4th. She started in the morning, and by the end of the day was finished recording some vocals. Avril’s husband, Nickleback’s Chad Kroeger, was in the studio with her.
Update: On June 12th, Avril revealed that a new song she was recording is “fun” and that fans will get to hear it soon. She also hinted that “surprises” are coming up. This doesn’t sound like the song about Lyme disease, which she mentioned in April. Could this be a new song she wrote? Or perhaps it’s related to the Christmas album she intends to record? We will know soon enough.

Avril told Billboard about her goals of releasing a Christmas album. Is Avril recording holiday music now? If she is, we may expect to see her Christmas album by late fall this year.
Alternately, Avril could be recording non-holiday music. She was writing a lot of “less pop” songs last summer, and hopefully those will end of on her next regular studio album.
We’re still in the early stages, but it looks like there is plenty happening for Avril right now. She’s set to perform “Fly” at this summer’s Special Olympics, has her new single about Lyme coming out in the coming months, and has various non-music projects lined up: The return of her clothing line Abbey Dawn, movie roles, and of course more charity work. Meanwhile, Avril has a Christmas album lined up, and likely a standard studio album after that.
