We’re the fourth song into Kelly Clarkson’s Piece By Piece week, and it just keeps getting better. “Take You High” is the most joyful song we’ve heard yet, and the most pop. The music is heavenly and sweet, with strings taking the lead as opposed to the standard guitar and drums. Kelly’s singing matches the music perfectly, her vocals clear and angelic. The atmosphere of the verses is like an epic triumph, whereas the choruses are uplifting and euphoric.

It’s the unexpected breakdown that will surprise you though. The chorus ends with Kelly’s vocal acrobatics chopped up into a kaleidoscope of sound. “Take You High” is one of the first songs we’ve heard from Kelly that’s ready for a dance or rave.

“Take You High” is a somewhat different sound for Kelly. This is the kind of divine, encouraging song that would be at home on a Madonna album. One of the great things about Kelly’s new Piece By Piece songs is how diverse they are – musically and lyrically they draw from a range of influences. Whereas yesterday’s “Run Run Run” duet with John Legend was the kind of melancholy ballad that recalls Evanescence’s “My Immortal,” today’s song is a dance-pop jam that will lift your mood.

Piece By Piece will be released on March 3rd, but there are plenty of songs to enjoy until then! If you pre-order the album on iTunes, you’ll get instant downloads of the lead single, “Heartbeat Song,” and each of the new tracks that have debuted this week: “Invincible,” “Piece By Piece,” “Run Run Run” featuring John Legend, and now “Take You High.”

Read up on all there is to know about each of the new songs, as well as what went into making Piece By Piece. We still get another new track tomorrow, so check back here soon for the next Kelly Clarkson song.

Lyrics

We don’t know where this is going now
But I’m feeling love for you
I’m feeling something new, yeah yeah
We don’t know where this is going now
But don’t be afraid tonight
Don’t be afraid of heights, no

Let me open your heart wide

When your angels fall out of the sky
I’ll be the wings that make you fly
When you come down I’ll take you high
I’ll take you high
I’ll take you
I’ll take you

If I’m dreaming don’t roll over yet
Perfect like porcelain
This could be heaven sent, yeah
Kiss the wind and just hold on to me
‘Cause in the freefall is when we get to live again, yeah

Let me open your heart wide

When your angels fall out of the sky
I’ll be the wings that make you fly
When you come down I’ll take you high
I’ll take you high
I’ll take you
I’ll take you
I’ll take you

When we feel down and we’re lost and we’re wasting away
Let’s escape
There’s a place deep in your heart where the trouble can’t go
That’s a heart
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah-ee-yeah
Yeah-ee-yeah

I’ll take you
I’ll take you
I’ll take you
